Our Financing Solutions

Solscient offers its customers a range of financing options to take advantage of the benefits of solar energy at their facilities.

Solscient offers its customers a range of financing options to take advantage of the benefits of solar energy at their facilities. Solscient can provide the financial analysis necessary to evaluate the benefits of direct ownership of a solar array, taking into account federal tax benefits, including the Investment Tax Credit, accelerated depreciation, state and utility based incentives, renewable energy credits and other financial considerations. Solscient’s financial analysis reflects financial benefits expressed through internal rate of return, simple payback and return on capital.

Power Purchase Agreement

Solscient offers Power Purchase Agreements for solar energy systems, in which the customer makes no up-front investment and incurs no cost associated with the installation of the system. Solscient owns and operates the system, and the customer pays for all electricity generated by the system at a fixed per kilowatt hour price over the life of the system, which enables the customer to hedge future energy price inflation. The customer pays only for the electricity generated by the system, and nothing more.

How does it work?:
  • Solscient designs, installs, owns and operates Solar Array – and bears 100% of the cost
  • Host simply agrees to purchase all electricity generated by System – while still connected to grid
  • Obligation to purchase energy does not start until independent engineer signs off on System
  • Customer purchases all of energy generated by System at fixed rate per kWh with agreed-upon annual escalator
    • Effective Energy Cost Hedge
  • Customer has no O&M responsibility or risk
  • At end of term, Array removed at no cost to customer or customer can exercise option to purchase at its then fair market value

Direct Ownership

Solscient has the financial, engineering and technical experience to guide our customers through the direct ownership decisionmaking process, and to design, build and commission the highest quality solar arrays at extremely competitive pricing.

How does it work?:
  • Customer Contracts with Solscient to design, build and sell turn-key PV solar generation system
  • Total Project Cost eligible for 30% Investment Tax Credit and accelerated depreciation

Rooftop or Ground Lease

Solscient will also lease rooftop or ground space from its customers in markets where feed-in-tariff or utility purchase programs exist. This enables a commercial property owner to generate additional lease income while hosting a solar energy system on its property. How does it work?:

  • Solscient designs, installs, owns and operates Solar Array – and bears 100% of the cost
  • Solscient contracts with Utility to sell 100% of the output of solar array to the Utility
  • Host simply agrees to lease its rooftop to Solscient for fixed quarterly lease payment for term of Utility contract (15-20 years)
    • New income stream from otherwise unutilized space
    • Participation in “renewable energy” for messaging purposes
  • Solscient responsible for maintaining Solar Array and guarantees no interference with roof or business

At end of term, Array removed at no cost to customer or customer can exercise option to purchase the system at an appraised value
